Commission Process
Commissioning a painted portrait involves a blend of planning, communication and artistic collaboration.
With every portrait I strive to create a unique and timeless work that captures the essence of the sitter.
The initial contact can be email and / or phone call to discuss the overall feeling of the portrait and how best to convey the subject with considerations of setting, clothing, lighting and size.
I paint from photos that I prefer to take myself and can be in lieu of a formal sitting. I am, however, open to using existing photos provided by the client.
Commission Prices
I charge $30 an hour when traveling to take portrait photos. If out of Essex County, MA I may charge for travel which will be discussed in advance. We then collaborate on the chosen image.
The cost as follows is based on $8 per square inch. All standard sizes are available and will be calculated per request. Many family portraits are head and shoulders. Official Portraits 3/4 view or full length and the size would increase to fit the desired location for the portrait.
